(late) Friday Hardcore
Mystic Records. A label hated by countless bands. Records covetingly preserved by fans of early 80s US (mostly Southern Californian) hardcore. Nardcore! The Super 7 series! Endless samplers! Anything to fatten up owner Doug Moody's wallet?
Questionable business practices aside, Mystic did put out some rad records. RKL, Ill Repute, Battalion Of Saints, the Nardcore comp, the Doggy Style 7"...anyone remember "Donut Shop Rock"?
Mystic had this thing for compilations: it almost seems like that half of their discography was made up of records collecting no-fi, two chord hardcore from various scenes. My favorite being, the We Got Power, Party Or Go Home LP.
Compiled by Dave Markey (Sin 34/1991: The Year Punk Broke) from We Got Power! Fanzine. Some of the best tunes from the side A. The flipside will come next week.
Ill Repute
Hailing from Oxnard, California: Nardcore. The What Happens Next 12" is a classic. Pick it up, if you can.
Putrid Girls
Who are these people? Do they have anything else out? Fucking ace!
Rebel Truth
Outta Sacramento. Great melodic, political hardcore. Check the discography CD out on Grand Theft Audio.
Willful Neglect
Eat My Shit & Die. Great HC from Minnesota. More info here. All from
We Got Power, Party Or Go Home compilation LP
