Tour USA June 2005 (part 1)

Vacations suck! Packing, 13 hour flights, jet lag, the insane amount of money spent and the fucking worst...going back to work!

Naah, we had a blast in the States. Refreshed! Returning to work has been a drag, but you know how that goes...

A tune from each city we had the pleasure of visiting on the West Coast.
San Francisco was San Francisco, great in the afternoon, fucking chilly at night. Wilco were amazing at the Greek Theatre. Couldn't get out to El Farolito (had to settle for sub-par burritos somewhere in Castro), but had breakfast at Art's Cafe (twice!)

HSAS
Missing You
Through The Fire LP (buy)
Geffen 1984

Yeah, Sammy Hagar and gang. I actually totally love this LP, way back from my pre-punk days. Seems that Sam was bored so he called up Neal Schon from Journey and they gathered up some studio-musician hacks (Kenny Aaronson and Michael Shrieve) from around the Bay Area, played some shows, recorded said shows...out pops Through The Fire. I guess they cut out the crowd noise and overdubbed a bunch of stuff...

We stopped in San Luis Obispo for food and a piss break on our drive down to Santa Barbara. We hit a taco joint, got some food and did the deed...15 minutes, tops. That constitutes a "visit"...right?

Wimpy Dicks
Mommy Can I?
And Broken Strings LP (buy)
Bopp N' Skin 1987

Old-school SLO Punx. Still together!

I was lucky to grow up in Santa Barbara, where we stayed 3 days. I must say it was a privilege and I thank my parents for getting transferred out there. A fucking beautiful town. Laid back, yes! Resort town for Hollywood Stars and other assholes, yeah, maybe. A place you would want to raise your kids: yeah, definitely. Somehow, the Rich Kids on LSD spawned out of this paradise.

RKL
Why?
It's A Beautiful Feeling! 7" EP
Mystic 1984

From their first 7", back when they had a dreadlocked dude named Vince on bass. I remember seeing RKL graffiti at Santa Barbara Junior High and having no idea what it stood for. My favorite RKL tune, wonder what these guys are up to now?

We spent a few hours in Los Angeles. Walked up and down Hollywood, the Chinese Theatre and all that...wish I could've spent a few more hours at Amobea.

Circle Jerks
American Heavy Metal Weekend
Wonderful LP
Combat Core 1985

Hey, it is LA. (You gotta love the "1 2 3")

East Coast coming next time. See ya!
